The Founder
Hi, I’m Lauren Smith, The Mahjong Chick. When I’m not teaching you’ll find me playing golf, pickleball or cycling with my husband Geremy and my son Ryder. I love to teach Mahjong because it gives me so many opportunities to connect with family and friends, old and new.
Private and Group Lessons
Mahjong lessons are broken down into two lessons (Mahjong setup included). The beginner lesson is two hours and consists of the basics, which includes learning the tiles, understanding the playing card, line building drills, how to deal, the Charleston, as well as an open hand practice game.
The intermediate lesson is two hours and consists of a review of the basics and strategic play.
Two lessons are recommended but not required.
Social Events
Events include but are not limited to: girls' night, trips with friends, baby showers, birthdays, admin gifts, coffee shop get-togethers, happy hours, fundraisers, country club activities and many more!

American Mahjong Essentials
Receive a student discount when you order through the Mahjong Chick, a Mahjong Line Ambassador.
American Mahjong Tiles
Chinese Mahjong sets include 144 tiles, whereas an American set includes 152 (including 8 joker tiles).
Racks
American Mahjong requires 4 racks. These particular racks with pushers are made to fit the custom size Mahjong Line tiles.
NMJL Card
The NMJL card changes every year so I recommend buying 4 to complete your set.
